The Bible spends a great deal of time describing people as sheep. Whether or not this is a compliment or not depends on how you look at being a sheep. If you see sheep as dumb animals with no purpose, you may see being compared to a sheep as a bad thing. However, if you see sheep as a tool to learn how to be a better follower of Jesus, then you will see the comparison as valuable.
Needs of Sheep
Sheep need guidance and direction. Shepherds spend time building trust with their sheep. When a sheep feels trust with their shepherd, they will listen for the voice of their shepherd and do whatever the shepherd asks. Sheep listen to their shepherd and obey the voice and commands of the shepherd. Over time sheep will only listen to the voice of their shepherd. No other shepherd can steal a sheep away by simply calling it because it will simply ignore any voice other than his own shepherd.
We Listen to our Shepherd
Just as sheep listen and obey their shepherd, we as sheep also know the voice of our shepherd and often choose to obey the shepherd’s voice. We need to feel trust in who we choose to listen to. If someone we follow proves to be a liar and cheater, we will often decide to stop listening to their advice and look for another shepherd to follow. Just like sheep need to feel secure, so we need to feel secure about who we are taking advice from.
Whose Sheep are You
The question becomes: Whose sheep are you? You are a sheep and you belong to someone. Are you Jesus’ sheep or the modern prophets of Baal’s sheep? Who do you listen to? Whose voice has the most impact in the way you live life?
Is your shepherd the modern false prophets of Baal? I mentioned in this post that Brett and I have started calling “mainstream” media the prophets of Baal. Why? Just as the false prophets would declare lies to the kings and people in the Old Testament, so the media declares lies over our nation. The prophets of Baal in the Bible often would declare whatever the spirit of control (Jezebel) wanted. Recall from last week’s post that when the person Jezebel was alive, she had control over the false prophets.
Everything was going well in Jezebel’s world until the day when Elijah challenged the false prophets to prove their god had power. Suddenly all the people clearly saw that everything those prophets said was a lie, and all that Elijah said was true because his words came from the one true God.
The false prophets from the Old Testament said exactly what their true leader, Jezebel, wanted to hear. If she wanted the people to think there was something dangerous in the land and everyone should go hide, the prophets would parrot that until everyone in the nation believed they should be afraid and hide. As long as the people believed whatever Jezebel’s prophets told them, she had complete control over everyone. Control is what Jezebel craved.
Today’s Prophets of Baal
Here’s the thing. Today we have a whole group of people who say they are reporters and are only telling us the truth about every aspect of life, but are they really telling us the truth? If you are honest, you would reply, “No. They don’t always tell the truth.” If the media isn’t telling you the truth all the time, how can you tell when and what they are telling is true or a lie? What percentage of what they tell you is the truth? What percentage is a lie? Is it 80% truth and 20% lie or vice versa?
In recent times there have been some reporters who are forced to quit their jobs because they value fair and balanced reporting over just repeating the same narrative of everyone else. One such reporter is Kari Lake. She was a news anchor for Fox in Phoenix, Arizona. I actually watched her sometimes when I lived there. I always liked her! Watch her video to learn exactly why she left a thriving and successful career in journalism.
What I do Know
I don’t know about you, but I have no clue if the media ever tells us the truth about anything. I know they desperately want to keep the fact that the election was likely stolen a secret. Furthermore, they all demand all the rest of us declare the lie with them. I for one will not say there was absolutely no fraud in the past election until there is proof. So far all the facts point to something very sinister going on last November.
If the media isn’t telling us the truth about the election, what else are they lying about? We know for certain there have been other times in the past where the news reporters have been caught in a lie. One time that sticks out in my mind is when a hurricane came through. Do you recall the story about Anderson Cooper sitting in water reporting on the hurricane and along comes a guy walking behind him. As it turned out the water was only about ankle deep on the guy in the background. Why would he lie about the water level? Because deep water is a much better story than ankle deep water after a hurricane. I couldn’t find the footage of this incident, but I do remember that being a big story at the time.
What Else are They Lying About
If the media is willing to lie about trivial things like water levels, what else are they currently lying about? Maybe the severity of Covid, or the fact that masks prevent us from getting sick? What about the so called Covid vaccine? I personally have done tons of research (independent of the prophets of Baal media) on these topics. I will have a list of a few videos from doctors I have found interesting and helpful at the end of this post.
Truth Does Not Need to be Defended
If the media is always telling us the truth, or even telling us mostly the truth, why are they so bent on censoring what they consider false information? Just like I said a few weeks ago, truth doesn’t need to be defended. Truth is always true. Lies on the other hand do need to be protected and defended.
Do you see why Brett and I call the “mainstream” media false prophets? They seem to all be parroting the same narrative. Anyone who has a different opinion or wants to show a fact that doesn’t back up their narrative is automatically called a conspiracy theorist, spreading false information, and cancelled. If these facts are in fact lies, wouldn’t the truth prove them wrong? Remember how Jezebel threatened the same fate to Elijah after he won on Mount Carmel?
“Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So may the gods do to me and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by this time tomorrow.” 1 Kings 19:2 (ESV)
Is Jesus Your True Shepherd
Is Jesus your true shepherd? Do you spend time with him daily? Do you obey his command to spend time with other Christians? “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24-25 (ESV). Have you asked the Holy Spirit what the truth is in all the things going on in our world today? I did, and he told me exactly what I needed to know. Why don’t you to ask Holy Spirit yourself? I truly hope you are listening to the voice of the Holy Spirt often!
God Will Gather His Sheep
Here is the good news! God promised to gather his sheep together. I believe this is exactly what is going on in our current world. God is drawing his people to him. He is speaking to them, acting through them, and bringing the lost to him.
Take a look at what Ezekiel prophesied:
“For thus says the Lord God: Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep and will seek them out. As a shepherd seeks out his flock when he is among his sheep that have been scattered, so will I seek out my sheep, and I will rescue them from all places where they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness. And I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries, and will bring them into their own land. And I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the ravines, and in all the inhabited places of the country.
I will feed them with good pasture, and on the mountain heights of Israel shall be their grazing land. There they shall lie down in good grazing land, and on rich pasture they shall feed on the mountains of Israel. I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I myself will make them lie down, declares the Lord God.
I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strengthen the weak, and the fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them in justice. “As for you, my flock, thus says the Lord God: Behold, I judge between sheep and sheep, between rams and male goats. Is it not enough for you to feed on the good pasture, that you must tread down with your feet the rest of your pasture; and to drink of clear water, that you must muddy the rest of the water with your feet? And must my sheep eat what you have trodden with your feet, and drink what you have muddied with your feet?
“Therefore, thus says the Lord God to them: Behold, I, I myself will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep. Because you push with side and shoulder, and thrust at all the weak with your horns, till you have scattered them abroad, I will rescue my flock; they shall no longer be a prey. And I will judge between sheep and sheep. And I will set up over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he shall feed them: he shall feed them and be their shepherd. And I, the Lord, will be their God, and my servant David shall be prince among them. I am the Lord; I have spoken.” Ezekiel 34:11-24 (ESV)
Whose Sheep Are You
I ask once again, whose sheep are you? Do you believe the voice of the media over the voice of all others? What do you do if someone, even God himself, says something different than what the media tells you? Do you take it into consideration, or do you immediately dismiss it? Do you blindly follow what the media or CDC or even your own doctor says to do for your health, or ask God for direction first? You MUST decide who owns you.
Recall what Jesus said in Matthew regarding who you listen to:
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.” Matthew 7:15-20 (ESV)
What Now
What do you do now? You take stock in who you are listening to. You spend some serious time seeking God on who to listen to. Take a look at the fruit of who you listen to. Does the fruit have hope and peace? Is the fruit filled with fear and dread? Above all, remember that God is still in control. He will turn all of this around for our good. We need to remember to trust him always. Be blessed my friend. Know you are loved by a perfect God, and he wants nothing but the absolute best for you!
