We are going to continue on our journey of learning about our human spirits. We’ve discussed the fact that we are a three part being – body, soul, and spirit. Last week we talked about how our human spirits pre-existed our conception. Today I am going to tell you my personal testimony regarding my human spirit and his role in creation.
My Testimony
When I first was learning about the concept of our human spirits pre-existing our conception, I was very skeptical. But then again, I couldn’t get over the truth of the verses I’ve shared so far (and others!). So I decided to just take a step of faith and test it. And this happened over several different encounters.
The Scroll
The first testimony occurred during a prayer session with one of my good friends. We were visiting Heaven by faith, and the Lord was showing me some interesting things in a vision (more on this concept here). The Father handed a spiritual scroll to my friend and another one to me, and He instructed us, “Have your spirits read these scrolls to you later.” I said, “Ok, Lord!”
The next day, my mind drifted back to this encounter with the Lord, and I decided to ask my human spirit to read the scroll to me. I still remember exactly what I was doing: driving home from work, traveling north. And I just said out loud, “Lord, I am going to ask my spirit to read this scroll to me by faith… Ok, Brett’s spirit, human spirit, wait, what should I call you? Well, anyway, the Lord gave you a scroll last night, and I would very much like you to read it to me, please.”
I paused and waited. Less than 20 seconds later, I started hearing words in my mind, very similarly to how I hear from the Lord. And then I thought, “Oh, I guess I didn’t really think this over. I’m driving!” So I put my phone on voice record mode quickly and started speaking the words I heard in my head. Later on, I transcribed the message and discovered that it was a three-part message: communication from God to my spirit (and me, of course), spontaneous praise from my spirit back to God, and a message from my spirit to my soul.
These are the words I heard that day, and I’m being very vulnerable in sharing them here, because these words are very precious to me.
“‘Hear the words of the Lord to Brett Best: I declare them today in your hearing. Speak what is right and just; let no false way be in your mouth. Therefore, you will live by My Spirit, says the Lord of Hosts, and you will live by My Son, says God Almighty, and you will live in Me, knowing Me, says Father God. I am ready to raise you up; are you ready? I am willing to bring you honor; are you willing? I am about to lift you up on high; brace yourself for it. It will be a fun ride. I will lift you up higher and higher. You will be known, well-known, but it will not affect your heart. In fact, it will solidify your heart’s desires in a good way, a righteous way. Walk in My ways, and here’s a blessing for walking in My ways. I impart to you the ability to walk with me, in me, through me.’
‘Your wonders never cease. Your rules are righteous forever. You alone are enthroned above the cherubim. You have all dominion and power and authority. You command the great heights to come down, and You lift up the deep depths. There’s nothing You cannot do, O Lord. And I give You praise today, Holy Father, for all You’ve done, all You’re doing, and all You’re yet to do. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!’
‘These are the words of the scroll, one of the scrolls for the life of Brett. When did He write this? Long ago. Before the earth was made, He wrote this. And I wondered when this time would come. He says. “Now is the time, Brett, right now.” I am hearing and seeing that “now” is very close, and even though He sees “now” differently than we see “now,” they are converging ever so closely “right now.” Be prepared, O soul, be prepared for God’s goodness over you, for the filling and overflowing of the Holy Spirit. We have a great partnership, one of the best, and it will continue to grow well and steady, as we have the same goals: to worship our God and Father, to become the image of Jesus Christ, to be continually filled by the Holy Spirit.’”
My Spirit’s Role at Creation
When I asked my human spirit what his role at creation was, similar to how I instructed you to ask, I heard something unexpected.
I heard, “Trainer.”
I asked the Lord, “Who was I training?” And then I heard, “Angels.” I asked, “What was I training them in?”
The answer came to me, “Combat.”
Over several different instances and spiritual encounters with the Lord over the period of many months, the Lord continued to confirm to me that my spirit served in this training role. I even heard from angels that they had been trained by my spirit. So I just decided to believe it, by faith.
Remember This
Please remember these are my experiences with the Lord and my spirit. Your experience will be different because you and I are different people. I can confidently share these experiences with you because I have spent hours and hours and hours of time in prayer with the Lord. Take my testimony for what it’s worth. And remember this is simply my story.
